TIED Contests
For every session of Fundamentals, we have a chart reading contest for our beginner students in DT101. Every student, including our DT102 and DT103 participants, vote on who was the best in chart reading on the last Thursday of regular session. The winner gets an instrument donated by Scott Capps and the instructor gets a gift-certificate for their efforts. Past winners include:
Open Contests
Each October, the Texas Institute of Equine Dentistry puts on several contests for our dentists that are open to any student that has attended class at TIED.
Aging Contest
The Aging Contest is a contest of aging 5 horses based on their teeth and is open to any student wishing to participate. Students must inspect 5 horse's mouths and give a date of birth (day, month, and year); the winner is determined by the participant who is the closest ager (least days off on the sum of 5 horses). The cost is $100 to enter with TIED contributing $1,000 in added money. Past winners include:

Two-Man Team Dentistry Contest
The Two-Man Team Dentistry Contest is open to any pair of TIED students who wish to compete as a team . The contest is judged by the school director on which team does the best floating job on 1 horse. The contest is timed and teams must finish within one hour; each student will be responsible for the lower OR upper arcades, with the partner performing on the opposite arcades. The cost to enter is $100 PER PERSON ($200 for the team) and is sponsored by Joshua Wallace.
