Dental Instruments
TIED does not sell dental instruments at the school; however, we do use Capps Manufacturing and they will ship instruments to students while they are attending TIED. An approximate estimate is that a starter package for tools will cost students anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000, with most averaging $7,500, depending on exactly which instruments students decide to purchase.
TIED will supply all of the necessary dental instruments for DT101- students are not expected to bring any tools nor to have purchased any instruments. In fact, we recommend that students wait until after DT101 to purchase instruments so they can use all of our instruments and not buy any equipment they may never use.
For DT102 and DT103, students are expected to use their own instruments; we do allow instrument rental for students flying into school who may not be able to take all of their instruments through airport security. For DT102, instrument rental is $300 and for DT103, instrument rental is $500.
During wetlab, students are allowed to share equipment between themselves if they want to plan on bringing one complete set between the two of them. Details should be arranged before class with your lab partner so that students are prepared for wetlab sessions.

Maglite Flashlight
The only tool that all students are required to purchase is a Maglite LED Flashlight (3-AA batteries) for use in wetlab. ALL students, including DT101 students, need to have purchased a flashlight for their class. Students may wait until they arrive at TIED to purchase a flashlight at a local Walmart or hardware store, or students may order one from Amazon so that they have a flashlight before class starts. Click here for the link of the exact flashlight we are expecting students to have for wetlab.
