Courses
We currently offer 3 different programs and 5 different classes in our Fundamentals program. Please visit each course's individual page for more information about exactly what each class entails.
DT101
A 2-week course for new students entering the program. Consists of 4 days of theory in the classroom and 6 days working on horses with an instructor one-on-one. Pass/Fail grade based on completion of 10 days and passing written exam with at least a 70% score (37 multiple-choice questions).
DT102
A 2-week course for graduates of DT101. Consists of 4 days of theory in the classroom and 6 days working on horses with an instructor. Pass/Fail grade based on successful completion of 10 days and passing written exam with at least a 70% score (20 multiple-choice & 20 short-answer questions).
Head & Neck Anatomy
A 2-day course taught by Dr. Brillhart that includes learning anatomy in the classroom as well as a dissection of an equine head. Students are assessed with a written exam (40 short-answer questions) and must pass with at least a 70% to complete their hours. Students may take Head & Neck Anatomy whenever they choose, though we recommend taking it after DT101 or DT102. Head & Neck Anatomy occurs on Monday and Tuesday of the third week of school, though we reserve the right to reschedule it to another session if there are two few students enrolled.
Wetlab
A 1-week optional course during the second week of regular session only open to graduates of DT102 who need assistance in the practical aspect for testing in DT103. The student will work on 5 horses and be assessed on their strengths and weaknesses to prepare them to pass a practical test. Students must work on 50 horses and turn charts into the school before they can be signed up to take a wetlab. Sign up is on a first-come, first-served basis and usually fill up 6 months in advance.
DT103
A 2-week course for graduates of DT102 who wish to test to graduate from TIED. This course consists of 4 days in the classroom to prepare you to successfully pass your written exam with at least a 70% (90 short-answer and essay questions). In addition, you will be assessed on 6 horses and must pass with at least an 85% on the practical aspect. To successfully graduate, you have to pass both the written and the practical exams.
The total cost for our Fundamentals program is $6,880.

_Advanced Equine Dental Equilibration is
for graduates of our Fundamentals program who want to continue
their education in our advanced sessions. The Advanced Program
consists of 200 hours in four sessions (DT201, DT202, DT203 and
D204) that have to take place in our advanced sessions in April or
October. The cost is $300 per session and will take a minimum of one
year to complete.
The total cost of our Advanced Equine Dental Equilibration program is $1,200.

_ Mastery Equine Dental Equilibration is
for graduates of our Advanced program who want to get an additional
500 hours of equine dentistry education. Students must complete 10
advanced sessions and the cost is $300 per session and will take a
minimum of three years to complete.
The total cost of our Mastery Equine Dental Equilibration program is $3,000.
