The holidays are over and the new year has had a great start. If you didn’t see it on the news….TEXAS had a record breaking snow storm this year. Weatherford logged in 16” of snow…IN ONE DAY! And yes…it landed right smack dab in the  middle of our class session.  Our students were snowed in but found ways to make the best of a very rare situation. It was cold and wet but it was truly beautiful!

    First of all- Mark Allen and family are doing well and wish to thank everyone for their generosity at the 2009 TIED Alumni Memorial Roping, after which the Alumni Association was able to donate $2500 for help with Mark's legal expenses.  It’s amazing how we all can pull together to help each other, and you all should  be very proud!  Bobby Griswold plea-bargained his case and is now off probation in Oklahoma, and Senate Bill 1999 and House Bill 3202 are trying to make Equine Dentistry legal in Oklahoma.  Please go to www.oklahomaequinedentistrylaw.com for more information and help support these bills. Equine Dentists' right to work in Texas legislation will be starting soon, and is a big topic of the upcoming meetings.
   The TIED Advanced Class is coming up April 14-16, and will include a luncheon and meeting on Friday afternoon, followed by the TIED Alumni Poker Tournament on Friday night, Golf Scramble on Saturday and cookout Saturday night.  We will be joined by guests from the IAED to discuss ideas for the Association and upcoming legislation, and don't forget our TIED Alumni Association meeting Friday afternoon as well.  As many of you know, the IAED is undergoing some major changes, and they are requesting our input and assistance, so this is our opportunity to set our school apart from the others.  Keep in mind that we all have to join together- even if our dental philosophy is different.  They have also been kind enough to offer all TIED affiliates a discounted rate for the 2010 Convention in Las Vegas (at the South Point Casino March 5-7- call Will Phillips at 830-305-4460 for more details).  So take advantage of this opportunity and support unity in your profession!
   Remember dentists of all levels are always encouraged to attend these meetings, and thinking about any ideas you would like to discuss at the Alumni Association meeting, or with the IAED.  Remember these associations work for you, but you have to drive them!
